ABOUT
Tapestry Health offers clinical breast exams as part of a routine checkup. Even if you regularly perform breast self-exams, getting clinical exams annually by a professional is essential to staying healthy and making sure that you do not have breast cancer. Please call one of our clinics to learn more about this service.
SCREENING
With a clinical breast exam, a clinician feels the breasts and surrounding areas to check for any abnormalities, such as a lump. Remember that a lump does not necessarily mean cancer, as there are many causes of lumpiness in breasts. However, if you do feel a lump, it is important to get it examined.
While breast exams can help to find abnormalities in women younger than 40, those who are 40 and older, as well as those in high risk groups, should also get a mammogram every year. A mammogram can detect breast cancer in its earliest and most treatable stage, at an average of one to three years before a lump or other noticeable symptoms. Tapestry Health does not offer mammograms, but we may refer you for one if needed.
